Project 3 Rationale

In creating a cohesive collection of projects as a campaign for my message I created a multiplatform video and social media presence that tackles a shifting landscape of video techniques that addresses foremost a maintenance of balance between trends while retaining original purpose and intent. My main YouTube video discusses this at length in a professional tone that uses visuals to the advantage of the subject matter being the videos discussed. The connection goes much further however, as the “worth our watch” branding provides a strong structure for a more broadly reached audience that is accomplished through the outreach of visual graphics and short form videos on Instagram (also to be available on YouTube). In each short form video, a different editing style or idea is discussed as a subversion from regular Reels as they would be watched. The initial video is a call to action describing my intent, and each consequent video backs this up by ending with a description of how it aids the cause of reassessing intaken media. The videos include topics of vidding, sound effects, and other techniques that have been designed recently to keep the viewer engaged, and how these aggressive editing techniques might be better understood and objectively seen by a potential broader viewer. Their purpose is to call a viewer to reassess the content they consume and calling them to action in joining a community of people determined to find content that is in fact, worth our (inclusive possessive) watch. The YouTube video provides deeper insight as well, that in turn addresses a separate, deeper audience about the short form affect of video modularity and it’s affects on the industry as a whole. Rounded out with separate visual flyers/Instagram posts, the messaging and themes are clearly described to a variety of audiences through differently accessed forms. Overall, the messaging is strong, concise, and important with a simple to understand surface level message to reach a wider audience through short form videos and posts, and a deeper discussion in a longer format for those more privy to the topic and shifting media.
